Just For Kids

Did you know a new report predicts that the number of children with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes will skyrocket over the next 36 years? On the high end, type 2 diabetes – typically more common in older adults – could surge nearly 700% in people 20 and younger by 2060, per a study in Diabetes Care.

You can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes in children by helping them make healthy lifestyle choices and making sure to manage the disease with help from their pediatrician.

To help empower kids to be healthy, South Texas Health System and Prominence Health Plan will host a special Prevent, Treat & Beat Diabetes Symposium for Kids to help them learn ways to keep their health in check, including:

  • KID-CENTRIC DIABETES EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS, LED BY LOCAL HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS
  • EXERCISE DEMONSTRATIONS GEARED TOWARD CHILDREN
